The Sandhill - Standard Oboe Reed

Like the call of its namesake bird, the standard Crain's Cane reeds have beautiful depth and vibrancy. Made from select, moderate-to-high density cane on staples designed by the late David Weber. You can opt for an extra day of quality assurance and playtesting for a small upcharge.

About reed hardness:

"Medium" refers to a reed I find comfortable enough to play on continuously for an hour while maintaining response and pitch. There are many methods to render a reed softer or harder, including structure balance and thickness when scraping, gouge thickness, and cane density. Depending on what you select, I will adjust these factors to produce a reed with more or less resistance.
